It only took 25 plus years to replace Kasparaitis Love this pick up. They need his style on the blueline

Curious if Lou is just going to roll with Salo. I like getting rid of Greene/Chara but Romanov and Salo are both so young and inexperienced. Cap may force his hand, especially if they sign a big ticket UFA, but it could be a concern

I hope this is as good as the SERGACHEV move from Montreal to Tampa.

We joked on twitter last night but if they can get him cheap I wouldn't mind seeing Leddy back. Leddy & Mayfield is a pretty good bottom pairing, or they bring in a solid vet as a 6th maybe? Give Salo one more year in the bridge to work on his game

That would be altogether wonderful.

Yeah but I'm not so sure he'll be "cheap". Maybe compared to the rest of the market, but there's not a ton of defensemen out there so I wouldn't be surprised if he got a decent contract. Even at like $3M we'd have to do something. Dobson is likely to be a not-insignificant amount of money and Romanov should probably get about $2M or so. With only $11M in cap space I don't think there's a ton of flexibility

I agree Romanov really fills a need on the blueline.

True, Salo, Romanov & Dobson might be too much youth on the blueline for a team looking to compete for the cup

I've been waiting years for them to get a guy like this on the blueline

Tough young kid with an upside to his game.

I think you will like him, as long as you don't expect him to get a lot of points on the score sheet.

Not a hard thing to do I guess, but he was mtl number one defenseman at the end of last season.

Ideally, he won't have to. If he can be a solid defender and add in the physical aspect then he will be a great compliment to Dobson (now and/or in the future).

Looking forward to seeing him throwing the body around for sure though. Unless he's a total tire-fire defensively I think he'll become a fan-favorite pretty quickly.

I want him putting fools through the boards I don't care about his offense

A defenseman who takes the Body and plays Defense? I love the trade.

I heard rumblings about them trying to get Leddy on a cheap short term deal on NHL network the other day too... that would be fine.

They need someone that can clean the front of the net and while he might not put up a lot points, sounds like he can move the puck well.

Leddy would be fine if not Salo on 3rd pair minutes I would be fine with as well.

After talking to some people, both inside and outside the @NHLFlyers organization, it appears Chuck doesn't want to pay the asking price for someone to take on JVR's salary. That's completely understandable. But it would also be the death knell on a potential Gaudreau deal.

This is potentially good news

Fair few UFA “deals” leaked thus far. Can’t help but wonder if Gaudreau will be one as well.
